Sezin Aksoy
Sezin Aksoy was born in Istanbul in 1981. In 1999 she began her studies on business in Bryant College, known today as Bryant University. After graduating with a double major in marketing and management as well as a double minor in communications and sociology within just four years, she moved to Florida for a year of work in business. Ultimately deciding to change careers, she moved back to Istanbul and began pursuing fine arts.
Between 2004-2005 she studied in various different artist's studios. Mainly working with Deniz Orkus in DD Studio for painting and drawing, she also studied photography with Turgut Salgar, and attended IMOGA Museum workshops for printmaking with Suleyman Saim Tekcan, for etching.
In 2005, she furthered her studies in Boston, at the School of Museum of Fine Arts, and by 2007 she had completed her post-baccalaureate degree and diploma program.
The artist has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Istanbul. When asked about her work, she says that it "evolves around the idea of change, or one could call transformation".
"It is not only in the realms of form but also in thought and spirituality", she adds. "The main concept comes from the meaning of trans, which in my own perspective summarizes the fast movement of change in life itself."
