Bilge Alkor

Bilge Alkor was born in 1936 in Istanbul. She worked at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts and the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. In 1971 she graduated from the Rome Academy of Fine Arts. She lived in Italy and Germany until 1989. Since 1964, she has had many solo exhibitions in cultural centers of Italy, such as Rome, Milan, Venice, Matera and L'Aquila, in various cities in Germany, and in Istanbul and Ankara. She also participated in important group exhibitions in Norway, France and Dubai. The artist participated in the Mardin Biennial in 2018 and through- out her life she has received many awards. Among the international ones; 1978 Painting, Sculpture and Printing Exhibition (Piccolo Europa), of Sassoferrato, Italy, Second Prize, 1979 “Premio Mazzacurati: Exhibition of Contem- porary Italian Poetry,” Teramo, Italy; can be counted. Nurtured from various art forms; such as poetry, theater and music, the artist draws the viewer to the tragic scene of her fantastic realist world.

The founder of the Museum-House in Narmanlı Apartment, Bilge Alkor works and lives in Istanbul since 1989.
