Stéphanie Laleuw is a visual artist who graduated from Ecole Supérieure d'Art du Nord-Pas de Calais with honours. Starting out as an engineer, she later became a freelancer in 2014 to focus on her research in plastic arts. After three premiere exhibitions in 2018, she received the support of the French Ministry of Culture that same year.
Her work overplays the codes linked to the feminine gender - such as patterns, fabrics, embroidery - and integrates a craft in which women have shown great creativity that has remained minor in society. It explores a collective memory underlying the female gender and questions women's relationship to the world and to each other.
