Multidisciplinary artist Kimathi Mafafo is celebrated for creating works that explore beauty, materiality, andgender inequality in Africa. Mafafo's oeuvre spans embroidery, oil painting, and installation, and often depicts Black women surrounded by natural motifs and sumptuous textiles. Mafafo's intricately crafted works celebrate the Black female form and tell stories about the weight of tradition, oppression, and gender-based stereotypes. Mafafo has participated in exhibitions and fairs in France, Turkey, and South Africa.
