AGAMEMNON AND ARGYNNUS
In Greek mythology, Agamemnon was the king of Mycenae or Argos, son of King Atreus and Queen Aerope. His brother was Menelaos, who was married to Helen, the main characters that participated in the events leading to the Trojan War.
In Greek mythology, Athenaeus , an author of the late second century CE, tells a tale of how Agamemnon mourned the loss of his lover Argynnus, when he drowned in the Cephisus river. He buried him, honored with a tomb and a shrine to Aphrodite Argynnis.
